Thank you to everyone that supported me throughout this campaign. This was an amazing experience, I meet so many great residents. This all happened in about 90 days . When I look back I am blown away by everyones encouraging words. I really could not have made it this far without you .
Election day has come and gone. I had a great chance to win this seat . I had 7,746 votes on election night with 37.10% of the votes. My main opponent had 8,744 with 41.88% of the votes. That's only a difference 998 votes. We had 1,500 ballots that were cast with "NO" candidate selected in this race. That means 1,500 votes went blank for either candidate . That should be sign that other voices want to be heard in our city. This race was part of Ranked Choice voting. I had lots of calls and messages asking me about the voting process on election day. A winner needs to have 50% of the vote plus (1) vote to be declared the winner. So on Election night there was no winner. The next day the 1,500 blank votes & write in votes were eliminated which created a new threshold to declare a winner. No candidate was winner after this process. The next step was to review the next candidate with the lowest amount of votes . This candidate had 2,823 votes cast for him. These votes were looked at and reallocated based off of there 2nd vote choice. I was only able to secure 424 of these 2nd chance votes. The other candidate took 1,069 votes & the other 1,368 were exhausted due to no 2nd choice being provided. The total votes cast were for Moua ( 9,826 ) and for Minks was ( 8,184 ) . No matter how I look at this I am very proud of the work I did and how far I came as a resident & a voice for Bloomington.
Many of you have asked me if I will run again on the Common Sense Platform. I will come back and run again for the at Large Council Seat in the summer of 2025!
